An unexpected combination of baroque and contemporary art
After invading the Gallerie d’Italia in Milan, the animals of the Cracking Art movement break into the spaces of the Gallerie d’Italia in Vicenza on the occasion of the V edition of the Festival of Creative Culture promoted by ABI.

From 17 April to 29 July 2018 it will therefore be quite normal to come across a large green wolf or an “out of scale” pink snail inside the Palazzo Leoni Montanari environments.

Each of these animals hides behind a story and a meaning: the wolf and the suricato, symbols of the strength of the group respecting individuality, become at the same time visitors and guardians of this temporary residence; the snail and the frog add a fabulous and fairytale touch, creating a fantastic and festive atmosphere.

But what is the purpose of uniting two styles as distant as the baroque decorations of the building and the contemporary art installations created by Cracking Art? The idea of the project conceived by the Gallerie d’Italia and Cracking Art is to express a concept of breaking and renewing the aesthetic position, which brings about a revolution in the very conception of the image and in the way it is faced.

Numerous collateral activities are planned: animated stories and workshops dedicated to children, creative activities for nursery and primary schools, thematic routes for children and teenagers who participate in summer camps, activities for families on weekends.

In defense of artistic and cultural heritage
The Cracking Art movement also brings to the Gallerie d’Italia of Vicenza the initiative Art regenerates art, a program to support the Italian artistic and cultural heritage.

How does it work? At the museum bookshop you can buy one of the 100 mini sculptures – small swallows or colored frogs – made available by Cracking Art artists.
The sales proceeds will be donated to the cultural association Amici della Bertoliana, which for years has been supporting the city library in restoration, enhancement and promotion of its rich bibliographic and documentary heritage.
In particular, the restoration project of an ancient work of art will be financed: the Biblia Sacra, a membranous manuscript dating back to the end of the thirteenth century.
