Cave Canem

September 10 - October 2, 2016 | Cava Burgazzi di Virle Treponti, Brescia

“Cave Canem” installation will start the 10th of September at Cava Burgazzi in Virle Treponti.

The event, organized by Consorzio Marmisti Bresciani and curated by Lillo Marciano, will present a Cracking Art site-specific installation that will celebrate the birth of a new artwork: a Wolf made of Botticino marble.

The purpose is to reintroduce the heart of Cracking Art philosophy which is based on the comparison between natural and artificial, giving modernity to the marble and classical nature to the plastic, favorite Medium of the movement. In this way Plastic supports Marble as, in the cultural mission of Cracking Art, Contemporary art supports Ancient art.

The Wolf, distinctive animal for Cracking Artists, that transmits the idea of the pack and of acting for the common good, will be the protagonist of the beautiful quarry with his majesty and elegance. This new artwork, that also includes the idea of solidity and individual strength, will be surrounded by a colorful pack of wolves made of plastic, as a further development of the relationship between natural and artificial.

As the practice of the project “Art regenerates Art” – that since 2012 consists of a fundraising for restoration of the cultural heritage and for the support to cultural projects – small plastic animals will be sold throughout the duration of “Cave Canem”. The proceeds will be destined to Rodolfo Vantini School, the oldest institute in Lombardy with its headquarters in Rezzato (Brescia).

Since the 10th of September to the 2nd of October the installation can be visited every weekend from 3.30 PM to 8.30 PM.
