Cracking Art colorful swallows have just landed at the garden of Alfredo Oriani Library in Ravenna. In a few days, the city where Dante Alighieri spent the last years of his life, will celebrate the opening of Id_Dante, an ambitious project on the figure of the poet, created by Marco Bonobolabo Miccoli with the curatorship of Maria Vittoria Baravelli.
The project – which will culminate in 2021 – will start with the exhibition “Il Volto di Dante, per una traduzione contemporanea”: from September 18 to October 30 the exhibit will be set up at the Library with the aim of promoting a new iconography of Dante using a contemporary art approach.
The Comedy pattern will be reproduced through the exhibition of 33 + 1 artworks which, using different techniques, will translate Dante’s different languages in a modern way: from graphics to comics, from mosaic to Technogel, from bread to Tape Art. Among them there will be also some artworks created by four of our artists whose individual expression is not limited by the Cracking Art group dimension.
Cracking Art, as a movement, will participate with one of its most beautiful artworks. During the exhibition, three giant swallows will be placed near Dante Alighieri’s tomb. Simultaneously, as required by the project “Art Regenerates Art”, a number of mini sculptures will be sold at Caffè Letterario in Ravenna: the amount will support the project of making digital copies of books about Dante from the early twentieth century.

“Cave Canem” installation will start the 10th of September at Cava Burgazzi in Virle Treponti.
The event, organized by Consorzio Marmisti Bresciani and curated by Lillo Marciano, will present a Cracking Art site-specific installation that will celebrate the birth of a new artwork: a Wolf made of Botticino marble.
The purpose is to reintroduce the heart of Cracking Art philosophy which is based on the comparison between natural and artificial, giving modernity to the marble and classical nature to the plastic, favorite Medium of the movement. In this way Plastic supports Marble as, in the cultural mission of Cracking Art, Contemporary art supports Ancient art.
The Wolf, distinctive animal for Cracking Artists, that transmits the idea of the pack and of acting for the common good, will be the protagonist of the beautiful quarry with his majesty and elegance. This new artwork, that also includes the idea of solidity and individual strength, will be surrounded by a colorful pack of wolves made of plastic, as a further development of the relationship between natural and artificial.
As the practice of the project “Art regenerates Art” – that since 2012 consists of a fundraising for restoration of the cultural heritage and for the support to cultural projects – small plastic animals will be sold throughout the duration of “Cave Canem”. The proceeds will be destined to Rodolfo Vantini School, the oldest institute in Lombardy with its headquarters in Rezzato (Brescia).
Since the 10th of September to the 2nd of October the installation can be visited every weekend from 3.30 PM to 8.30 PM.
